FAQ about Technical Support

1) I tried installing the game via Web Installer and got the following error. What do I do? (Thank you, Daraia, for this information.)


a) Press the Start button.
b) Type 'regedit' in the Search box, it will take you to the registry dditor.
c) Open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder -> "Software" folder -> "Microsoft" folder -> "Windows" folder -> "Currentversion" folder -> Run folder ->  Urlopen Error 10060 Operation Timed Out file.
d) Delete the Urlopen Error 10060 Operation Timed Out file.

2) When I try to log it says "Error Retrieving Character Information for This Account". What's wrong?

It means your character was logged off on a realm where Sunstrider and Inferna don't work. You need to relog onto any realm between r1 and r9, r11, and r12. Sunstrider and Inferna, for some reason or another, do not work on r10, r13, r14, and r15.

3) I get an all Chinese error (picture below) when I try to enter the game. What do I do?


There are two options as to what can be wrong.

a) You need to click Full Check on the launcher and let it update a few times. Can take up a various amount if time depending on your internet speed and size of the files.
b) Update your DirectX, cause you could be having issues with your Direct3D.
c) If you're running Vista, you need to run  DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
d) If you're using Windows XP, this might be an issue. The OS only supports up to DirectX 9, yet the game runs on at least 10 - if not 11. The download option on the following link might help.

4) A small black window opens and closes after I start the game, how do I fix it?

a) Full Check a few more times, try opening the game again.
b) Go to element\userdata and delete systemsettings. It's a .ini file that regulates your game client settings, such a display, effects, camera and so on. After deleting the file, Full Check.
c) If it still doesn't work, try once more. Or more.

5) When I log in, my server list says "test" and I can't log in (see picture below. Also, thank you, Renya, for this information).


This happens due to an error in the server file, but it's very easy to fix.

a) Go to element\userdata\server
b) Open a file called serverlist.txt
c) Copy the following and save the file:

USA-East
Monkey Dynasty   29000:auth.monkeydynasty.org   14

4) Open newserver folder and find serverlist.txt
d) Again, copy and save the above.
e) If necessary, uncheck the "read only" property.

6) My Launcher keeps re-downloading a certain game file every time I open it.

Means your connection to the launcher is being disrupted and it disables a complete download of the needed file. Follow these steps to ensure a working download:

a) Delete the files that the launcher has been downloading in your game folder every time. For example, if the launcher has been having connection issues with trees.pck, delete it (or 'them' if you have more than one).
b) Download that file manually via the torrent file on Download Methods
c) Put the manually downloaded file into your game folder (wherever it belongs).
d) Full check - many times if needed to.
e) Delete the 'files.lst' file in the game folder and full check.

7) When I try to connect it says "cannot connect to server". What do I do?

a) Full check
b) If it still doesn't work, delete systemsettings.ini in element/userdata and full check.

8) Says "invalid username and/or password" when I try to log into the game.

A couple of things could be causing this issue.

a) You have been banned. Check the list of bans on the following link.
b) Reset your password.
c) If all else fails and you still can't  find a solution, send a ticket to our Support section and we'll have someone look into it.

9) My client keeps crashing, what do I do?

a) Check your DirectX and see if there's any need for an update.
b) Update your graphic card's drivers.
c) Make sure your security/Anti-Virus software is turned off or you have the client/launcher/element folder in its exceptions list. Certain Anti-Virus applications such as AVG 7.5, Nod32 and Norton have been confirmed to cause instability with games.
d) Make sure you're running the best possible firmware version available on your router. And that your Firewall is either off or the game is in its exceptions.
e) If you're running any custom executable files that promised you to make the game run smoother, you need to set the game back to its 'factory settings'.
  • Right-click on the game you're attempting to play.
  • Select "Properties".
  • Click "Set Launch Options", found under the "General" tab.
  • Type in: -autoconfig.
  • Click "Ok".
  • Launch the game.

10)  While installing the client it gives me 'error 4' (picture below).


Error code 4 usually means some sort of failure. Basically, an error occurred, but there's no specific error code to describe the failure. If you get this error;
a) Run the installation as Administrator.
b) Check at what part you receive the error and manually download it. For example; launcher shows you Error 4 when it's downloading trees.pck. Delete all the trees.pck files the launcher put in your element folder through continuous re-patching and manually download the file off the torrent. Afterwards, place the file in element folder (or if it's any other file that's causing trouble put it in the corresponding folder) and run launcher again.

11)  When launching the game it gives me the following problem (picture below).


a) Delete 'userdata' in 'element' and run a full check.
b) Make sure your Launcher and monkeydynasty.exe is in your Anti-Virus exception and to your Firewall.

12)  The Launcher shows a white bar where the Start/Cancel/Full Check buttons and % bars are located (picture below).

The only method that I've found out so far is to resize the Windows Font to 100 %.

13)  When I click on the Launcher I get the following error.


"Invalid Win32 application" means that during the download the file was corrupted or is even missing. You have to redownload via torrent and replace the corrupted files.

13)  The game client keeps freezing every now and then.

This means your computer is suffering from what you could call a memory overflow. Simply put, your computer is consuming all of the physical memory on other applications, leaving the game to choke with the resources barely provided.

13)  When I start up the game client it doesn't show the picture or the loading screen, just a large black window.

This is easily fixed.
a) Open your userdata folder in element folder.
b) Open systemsettings (it's a .ini file) and find Fullscreen.
c) Change the Fullscreen from 1 to 0; Fullscreen = 0.

14)  When I start up the launcher the "full check" and "start" button are greyed-out (see picture below).


a) Add the launcher and the game to your Anti-Virus exceptions.
b) Turn off your Anti-Virus.
c) Check your Firewall settings.

I actually have this issue and was about to post before i actually used search. . . . . *gasp* . . .
now are there anything you can recommend in resolving this? because my computer does this every so often. I can even verify it isn't using all of the physical memory. . .




Any ideas?

From what I know it might be a software driver issue causing the problem. Are you sure that you have installed the latest driver for your chipset and video card? Can you also post a picture of your task manager's RAM performance?

In Windows 7, 8.0, 8.1:
Open Task Manager > Performance> Memory (or RAM). Can you take a screen cap of that, and post it here?

I actually fixed this issue, i had to set my Game to utiize my NVIDIA graphics card instead of the integrated graphics card. As soon as I made the switch, the game never crashed or locked up again.

Ah yeah, that's the issue with most laptop's. They tend to set themselves on the intergrated graphics, witch sucks by the way. You can set Windows to automatically work with your Nvidia graphics card, just with a little trick here and there ;)

Anyway it is good that you have resolved the issue. I didn't know you had resolved it yet because there was no reply left after this :P
